Teaching Digitally Distracted Learners

The use of digital tech in education helps learners gain access to better education, but the same digital devices can also be a cause of distraction. The increased rate of digital distraction is becoming more and more apparent in digital learning programs. But the benefits of online learning programs are so significant that, if handled properly, the concerns about distraction can be resolved. A person’s ability to remain focused on any task depends mainly on two neural processes. So, if learners’ attention is directed toward a goal-oriented activity, distraction tones down easily.

Educators can use multiple strategies to help them organize their online learning environment and address how learners interact online to reduce distraction and increase their engagement. So, educators can discuss in detail fundamental tricks that will help resolve learners’ distraction gradually, if not immediately.
